The Best Time to Visit Singapore

Singapore is a vibrant and exciting place to visit, with a unique mix of modern and traditional cultures. From the towering skyscrapers of the Central Business District to the stunning beaches of Sentosa Island, this tiny country packs a lot in!

As for when to go, Singapore is a great destination for travelers all year round, however, certain times of year are particularly ideal for a visit.

Temperature

The tropical climate in Singapore means that temperatures stay fairly consistent throughout the year, usually ranging from 21°C to 35°C (70°F to 95°F).

May and June tend to be the warmest months, with temperatures often higher than normal. The coolest months are typically December and January, when temperatures drop slightly, usually only a few degrees lower than the warmest months. Singapore is an island, so it experiences a coastal climate. Midday is usually the hottest, and temperatures cool off in the evenings when a sea breeze rolls in.

The humidity in Singapore tends to hover around 85%, but with more continuous rainfall, like in December and January, it can rise to 100%, making this time of year a little more uncomfortable despite the slightly cooler temperatures.

Rain

Rainfall in Singapore is quite variable, with no distinct wet and dry seasons.

From November to January, strong winds and heavy downpours are common. This time of the year has the most rainfall, and when it rains, it can often last the entire day.

From March to October, there are usually some rainy days, but these downpours tend to be short-lived in the afternoons or early evenings, while the days remain clear and sunny. February is typically the driest month, with the least amount of rain.

Being the forward-thinking city that it is, Singapore is well prepared for rain. With plenty of covered walkways and underground malls that have tunnels weaving their way around the city, you can pretty much get anywhere you need to go without getting wet. Plus, there is plenty of things to do indoors and under shelter, such as visiting the Museum of Ice Cream or indulging in one of Singapore’s world-class restaurants. So don’t let a little rain deter you!

Festivals

Singapore is a vibrant and exciting place all year round, but there are certain times of the year when the city truly comes alive. Lunar New Year is one of the biggest events in Singapore's calendar and usually takes place at the end of January or the beginning of February. This celebration marks the start of the Chinese lunar calendar and you’ll find beautiful decorations adorning the streets, magnificent lion dances, and a delicious variety of food to enjoy. It's a wonderful time to be in Singapore, to be part of the festivities, and to experience the traditional customs with locals and visitors alike.

For the perfect balance of warm and sunny weather, and minimal rain and humidity, April, May, and June are the best months to visit Singapore. However, there really isn’t a bad time to visit. On rainy afternoons, there are plenty of activities to do indoors or under shelter and many exciting events throughout the year.
